Here we will discuss the use of cold energy generated during the liquefaction of natural gas. Liquefied natural gas (abbreviated as LNG) is produced using approximately 10% of the natural gas produced at liquefaction plants, and is transported and stored at normal pressure while maintaining its boiling point (approximately -160°C). In other words, LNG contains the energy added during liquefaction, and has the ability to absorb large amounts of heat from its surroundings and cool itself when it returns to room temperature natural gas. This ability is called the cold energy of LNG, and it can absorb approximately 200 kcal of heat from other sources per kg of LNG. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
