A fishing net that is cast over the sea in a crescent shape from a shore, and the tow ropes attached to both ends of the net are pulled up onto land to catch fish. It is one of the representative types of seine nets, along with a boat seine that attracts schools of fish to a boat and captures them. It is shaped like a strip of net (net width depends on the water depth) with floats and sinkers, or a net with a cone-shaped bag net in the middle, and each side of the net (wing net) is made up of sleeve nets (made up of an inner net, a middle net, and a hand net) and a rough hand net connected to the tow ropes. The size varies depending on the fishing ground and the species of fish caught, but one wing net is roughly 108m long, and the larger ones can reach 200m.
