Also called "Shen'ei". A city in southwestern Shandong Province, China. Its ancient name was Rencheng. It is located on the east bank of the Grand Canal. A branch line of the Beijing-Shanghai Railway runs through the city, making it a distribution center for agricultural products in the western part of the province. Its main industries are food processing and agricultural machinery. Qufu is 40km northeast of the city.
