Jining - Saining
Also called "Shen'ei". A city in southwestern Shandong Province, China. Its ancient name was Rencheng. It is located on the east bank of the Grand Canal. A branch line of the Beijing-Shanghai Railway runs through the city, making it a distribution center for agricultural products in the western part of the province. Its main industries are food processing and agricultural machinery. Qufu is 40km northeast of the city. It has a population of 1.78 million including suburban areas (2014).

〈せいねい〉とも。中国，山東省南西部の都市。古名は任城。大運河東岸にある。京滬(けいこ)鉄路（北京〜上海）の支線が通じ，省西部の農産物の集散地。工業は食品加工，農機具が主。市の北東40kmに曲阜(きょくふ)がある。郊区を含めて178万人（2014）。
