Mount Muro - Murosan

Japanese: 室生山 - むろうさん

The general term for the Muro (Obora) volcanic group, which stretches from Uda District, Nara Prefecture to Nabari City and Ichishi District, Mie Prefecture. In an area stretching 25km east to west and 15km north to south, rhyolitic welded tuff is distributed, penetrating the Tertiary layers deposited on the basement of granite gneiss. There are peaks around 1000m above sea level, including Nukaidake (816m), the highest peak Kurosoyama (1038m), Oborayama (985m), and Amagadake (958m). There are many majestic cliffs and oddly shaped peaks that have been eroded, and well-developed columnar joints.

奈良県宇陀郡から三重県名張市，一志郡にまたがる室生(大洞（おおぼら）)火山群の総称。東西25km，南北15kmの地域に，花コウ片麻岩の基盤に堆積した第三紀層を貫いて流紋岩質の溶結凝灰岩が分布する。額井（ぬかい）岳(816m)，最高峰の俱留尊（くろそ）山(1038m)，大洞山(985m)，尼ヶ岳(958m)など標高1000m内外の峰々があり，浸食を受けた雄大な絶壁や奇峰が多く，柱状節理も発達している。
