Cold water river

Japanese: 冷水江 - れいすいこう

A newly industrialized city located in the middle of Hunan Province, China, in the middle reaches of the Zishui River, along the Xiangqiang Railway (Zhuzhou - Guiyang). Population 330,000 (1994). It was incorporated as a city in 1969 in the mining and industrial district of Xinhua County. The tin mine in the north-northeast of the city is a large one that accounts for half of China's antimony reserves, and also produces iron, tin, and coal. The city's metallurgy and chemical industries are developed using these as raw materials. [Hayashi Kazuo]

中国，湖南省の中部，資水の中流域，湘黔（しようけん）鉄道(株洲～貴陽)沿線にある新興工業都市。人口33万(1994)。1969年新化県の鉱工業地区に市制がしかれたもの。市の北北東にあるスズ鉱山は中国のアンチモニー埋蔵量の半分を占める大鉱山で，鉄，スズ，石炭も産する。市ではこれらを原料にして冶金，化学工業が発達している。【林和生】
