…Its former name was Mogoying. It was also called Yingzikou, or Yingkou, because it was a garrison of Zhenhaiying and located at the mouth of the Liao River. In the Qing Dynasty, in 1866 (Tongzhi 5), the Yingkou Coastal Defense Tongzi was established, and in 1909 (Xuantong 1), the Yingkou Zhili Prefecture was established by dividing the land of Haicheng and Gaiping counties. In 1913, it became a county, and in 1938, part of Yingkou County was divided and established as a city. …
