Ecstatic

In Sanskrit, it is called bhavāgra, and in the Buddhist worldview, it is the highest world excluding the Buddha realm. It refers to the heaven of non-conceived non-conceivedness, which is the highest of the three realms (the realm of desire, the realm of form, and the realm of formlessness). The three realms are also called existence, so this heaven at the top of them is called ecstatic heaven, and it is said that those who have mastered training can ascend to this heaven. In the prologue to the Lotus Sutra translated by Kumarajiva, the highest of the three realms, the realm of form, is said to be ecstatic heaven. The expression "to be ecstatic" which expresses extreme joy comes from this Buddhist term, and in this case, heaven means heavenly god, so it is expressed as "to become heaven."

サンスクリット語ではババーグラbhavāgraといい、仏教世界観で仏界を除く最高位の世界。三界(さんがい)（欲界、色界(しきかい)、無色界）の最高位にある非想非非想処天(ひそうひひそうしょてん)のこと。三界は有(う)ともよばれるので、その頂上にあるこの天が有頂天とよばれ、修行を究めた人がこの天に昇ることができるとされる。鳩摩羅什(くまらじゅう)訳『法華経(ほけきょう)』序品(じょぼん)では、三界中の色界の最高位である色究竟天(しきくきょうてん)が有頂天とされている。なお、極度の喜びを表す「有頂天になる」という表現はこの仏教語に由来し、この場合は天は天神の意味であるので、「天になる」と表現される。
