A Turkish dynasty that existed in Anatolia (Rum). 1077-1308. The father of the dynasty's founder, Sulaymān b. Qutalmūsh (?-1086), was a cousin of Tughril Beg, the founder of the Seljuk Empire in Iran. After the Battle of Malāzgird in 1071, Sulayman entered Anatolia, captured Nicaea, and founded the Seljuk state in Rum. During the reign of Sulayman's son Qilch Arslān I (reigned 1092-1107), Nicaea was lost in an attack by the First Crusade, and the state's capital was thereafter located in Konya in central Anatolia.
