Eilat - Eilat (English spelling)

The southernmost seaport in Israel. It is located at the innermost part of the Gulf of Aqaba (Gulf of Eilat), a bay at the northern end of the Red Sea, adjacent to the Port of Aqaba in Jordan. Population: 29,900 (1992). It is an important port as Israel's only outlet to the Red Sea. Over 1 million tons of goods pass through this port annually, both for imports and exports. There are also pipelines between the port and ports on the Mediterranean side, such as Haifa.

イスラエル最南端の海港。紅海北端の支湾アカバ湾（エイラト湾）の最奥部に、ヨルダンのアカバ港と接して位置する。人口約2万9900（1992）。イスラエルの紅海への唯一の出口として重要な港。輸出入あわせて年間100万トン以上の物資がこの港を経由する。また、ハイファなど地中海側の港との間にパイプラインが敷設されている。
