Puy‐de‐Dôme (mountain)

Japanese: ピュイ・ド・ドーム[山](英語表記)Puy‐de‐Dôme
Puy‐de‐Dôme (mountain)
The highest peak of the Dôme massif at the northern end of the Auvergne volcanoes in the Massif Central in central France. It is an extinct volcano with an elevation of 1,465m. The Dôme massif is part of a volcanic chain (Chaîne de Puy) stretching 30km in length, and is known as a museum of volcanoes, with fresh volcanic formations such as craters, volcanic domes, and lava flows. It is located about 10km west of Clermont-Ferrand, the capital of the Massif Central. At the summit are a meteorological observatory (established in 1876) and the ruins of a temple to Mercury, the Gallo-Roman god of commerce.
