Born: July 7, 1922, San Biagio di Calalta, Italy [Died]2020.12.29. Neuilly-sur-Seine, France French fashion designer. In addition to women's clothing, he also dealt in highly fashionable men's clothing. Born into a wealthy French wine merchant family, he was interested in tailoring from an early age. At the age of 17, he moved to Vichy, France, and worked at a men's clothing store. After World War II, he joined the Parisian fashion house Paquin and was in charge of costume design for Jean Cocteau's film "Beauty and the Beast". After working as a head cutter at Christian Dior's haute couture store, he became independent in 1950 and opened his own store. While his tailoring of men's suits was well-received, he also released a women's ready-to-wear collection in 1959 and a men's ready-to-wear collection in 1960. In the mid-1960s, he attracted attention with his "space look," which combined a short tunic with a vinyl helmet and goggles. He also got involved in the licensing business of attaching his name to various clothing products such as sunglasses, paving the way for business strategies for upcoming designers.
