[Died]2020.12.29. Neuilly-sur-Seine, France French fashion designer. In addition to women's clothing, he also dealt in highly fashionable men's clothing. Born into a wealthy French wine merchant family, he was interested in tailoring from an early age. At the age of 17, he moved to Vichy, France, and worked at a men's clothing store. After World War II, he joined the Parisian fashion house Paquin and was in charge of costume design for Jean Cocteau's film "Beauty and the Beast". After working as a head cutter at Christian Dior's haute couture store, he became independent in 1950 and opened his own store. While his tailoring of men's suits was well-received, he also released a women's ready-to-wear collection in 1959 and a men's ready-to-wear collection in 1960. In the mid-1960s, he attracted attention with his "space look," which combined a short tunic with a vinyl helmet and goggles. He also got involved in the licensing business of attaching his name to various clothing products such as sunglasses, paving the way for business strategies for upcoming designers.

フランスのファッションデザイナー。婦人服のほかに，ファッション性の高い紳士服も扱った。フランスの裕福なワイン商人の家に生まれ，子供の頃から洋服の仕立てに興味をもつ。17歳でフランスのビシーに渡り，紳士服店で働く。第2次世界大戦後，パリのファッションメゾン，パキャンに入社し，ジャン・コクトーの映画『美女と野獣』の衣装デザインを担当。クリスチャン・ディオールのオートクチュール店で主任裁断師を務めたのち，1950年に独立し自身の店をもつ。メンズスーツの仕立てが評判となる一方で，1959年にレディスのプレタポルテコレクションを，1960年にメンズのプレタポルテコレクションを発表した。1960年代半ばには，短めのチュニックにビニール製のヘルメット，ゴーグルを組み合わせた「宇宙ルック」で話題を集めた。サングラスなどのさまざま服飾製品に自身の名をつけるライセンスビジネスも手がけ，後進デザイナーの経営戦略に道筋をつけた。
