Chemical formula: Ca ₃ (PO ₄ ) ₂ . It is also known as tricalcium phosphate or tricalcium phosphate. It occurs naturally as apatite and is widely distributed in soil, where it is an essential component for plant growth. It is also the main component of vertebrate bones and teeth. To obtain it in its pure form, an aqueous solution of calcium salts and aqueous ammonia are added to an aqueous solution of disodium hydrogen phosphate (Na ₂ HPO _{4 )} , and the resulting white precipitate is thoroughly washed and dried. 2HPO ₄ ²⁻ + 3Ca ²⁺ + 2NH ₃ − → Ca ₃ (PO ₄ ) ₂ + 2NH ₄ ⁺ white powder.

化学式Ca₃(PO₄)₂。リン酸三カルシウムまたは第三リン酸カルシウムとも呼ばれる。リン灰石として天然に産出し，また土壌中に広く分布して含まれ，植物の生長に必須の成分である。脊椎動物の骨や歯の主成分にもなっている。純粋なものを得るには，リン酸水素二ナトリウムNa₂HPO₄の水溶液にカルシウム塩の水溶液とアンモニア水を加え，生じた白色沈殿をよく洗って乾燥する。　2HPO₄^2－＋3Ca^2＋＋2NH₃　　―→Ca₃(PO₄)₂＋2NH₄^＋白色の粉末。
