Expert witness - Kantei Shonin
|
A person who testifies to a court about past facts that he or she has come to know through special academic experience. In that he or she presents facts from his or her own experience, he or she is treated as a witness and is distinguished from an expert witness, who merely expresses a judgment or opinion. 〘名〙 裁判所に対し、特別の学識経験で知り得た過去の事実について供述する者。自己の経験事実を述べる点で証人として取り扱われ、判断、意見を述べるにとどまる鑑定人とは区別される。
