Petroleum ether (English spelling)

A colorless, transparent petroleum product with a boiling point of about 30 to 70°C, it is a type of industrial gasoline. It is obtained by recovering liquid components contained in petroleum-derived natural gas (natural gasoline) and by distilling and refining light naphtha. It mainly consists of pentane and hexane, and is used as a laboratory solvent as a reagent. In a broad sense, it corresponds to the lowest boiling point product in benzine.
