Phosphate ore (Rinkou (English spelling) phosphorite)

A mineral whose main component is phosphorus (P). Phosphorus is an element found in relatively large quantities in the earth's crust. It forms phosphate minerals, but apatite (Ca ₅ (PO ₄ ) ₃ (F,Cl,OH)) is the most common accessory mineral in igneous rocks, and it has been calculated that more than 90% of the phosphorus in the earth's crust exists as apatite. It also occurs as minerals such as amblygonite (LiAl(F,OH)(PO ₄ ) (lithium resource), monazite (CePO _{4 )} , and xenotime (YPO _{4 )} . Organic sedimentary deposits, guano deposits, and carbonatite deposits are also major sources of phosphate rock.

リンPを主要成分とする鉱物。リンは地殻中に比較的多く存在する元素である。リン酸塩鉱物をつくるが，リン灰石Ca₅(PO₄)₃(F,Cl,OH)は火成岩の最も普通にある副成分鉱物であって，地殻中のリンの90％以上はリン灰石として存在するという計算もある。そのほかアンブリゴナイトLiAl(F,OH)(PO₄)(リチウム資源)，モナザイトCePO₄，ゼノタイムYPO₄などの鉱物として産出する。また有機堆積鉱床，グアノ鉱床，カーボナタイト鉱床も主要なリン鉱石資源である。
