Smithsonian Institution is a national academic and cultural research institution in the United States. It was established in Washington in 1846 with funds left behind by the British chemist Smithson. It houses three museums, one each for natural history, technology, and aerospace, as well as art galleries and various research institutes. → Smithsonian Museum
[Additional information] The G10, which signed the Smithsonian Agreement in 1971, was held in the Smithsonian Institution headquarters building, known affectionately as the "Castle," located in a corner of the National Mall.
