One of the TV broadcasting stations, it is a key station of the ANN series. It is commonly known as TV Asahi. Headquarters are in Tokyo. It was established in 1957 as Japan Educational Television and launched in February 1959. It was a specialized educational station, but in 1973 it became a general program station, and in 1977 it changed its name to Nationwide Asahi Broadcasting. It has been the first station to adopt new program styles such as morning shows, two-hour dramas, and mini-series. It has also strengthened its cooperative partnership with the Asahi Shimbun in news programs, highlighting the station's unique characteristics. Number of employees: approximately 1,330 (1996). テレビ放送局の一つで,ANN系列のキー局。通称はテレビ朝日。本社東京。1957年日本教育テレビとして発足し,59年2月に開局した。教育専門局であったが73年総合番組局となり,77年全国朝日放送と社名を変えた。モーニングショー,2時間ドラマ,ミニシリーズなど新しい番組様式を他局に先んじて取り入れてきた。また,報道系番組で朝日新聞との協力提携関係を強めるなど,局の特色を打ち出している。従業員数約1330名(1996)。
