Nitrogen Sulfide - Leucathio

Japanese: 硫化窒素 - リュウカチッソ
Nitrogen Sulfide - Leucathio

A general term for compounds consisting of S and N. Also called sulfur nitride. Examples include N 2 S 2 , N 4 S 4 , N 2 S 4 , and N 6 S 5. NS, which corresponds to NO, exists in a form coordinated to a metal atom. [ I ] N 2 S 2 (92.14): Obtained by passing N 4 S 4 vapor through silver cotton or silver net. A colorless, volatile solid. The molecular structure is a square planar shape. Like N 4 S 4 , it is explosive. Decomposes into N 2 and S at temperatures above 35°C. Soluble in organic solvents. It is easy to form polymers at room temperature. [CAS 25474-92-4][See other terms]Poly(nitrogen sulfide) [ II ] N 4 S 4 (187.29): Obtained by passing NH 3 gas through a warm CCl 4 solution of S 2 Cl 2 or SCl 2. An air-stable solid that exhibits thermochromism. -190 °C: colorless, 25 °C: yellow-orange, 100 °C: red. Melting point: 178.2 °C. Density: 2.22 g cm -3 (15 °C). It explodes when crushed, impacted, rubbed, or rapidly heated. Its molecular structure is an eight-membered ring, and as shown in the figure, it is a combination of a planar square formed by N atoms and a tetrahedron formed by S atoms. It is used as a raw material for other compounds with SN bonds. [CAS 28950-34-7] [ III ] N 2 S 4 (156.27): Obtained by heating a CS 2 solution of N 4 S 4 and S in an autoclave. Dark red solid. Melting point: 23 °C. Density: 1.71 g cm -3 (20 °C). Diamagnetic. It is a six-membered ring structure with N atoms occupying the 1st and 3rd positions, and SNSNS is almost flat and has a half-chair structure. [CAS 79796-31-9] [ IV ] N 6 S 5 (244.37): Obtained by oxidizing S 4 N 5 - with bromine at 0 °C, or by reacting S 4 N 4 Cl 2 with (CH 3 ) 3 SiNSNSi(CH 3 ) 3. An air-active, explosive, yellow-brown solid. It sublimes at 45 °C/1.33 Pa. It has a structure in which the S...S of N 4 S 4 are bridged with N 2 S. [CAS 68993-02-2]
