Chinese literati, painter, and calligrapher of the Qing Dynasty. Born in Qiantang (Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province). His pen name was Shoumen, and his pen names included Dongxin and others. He grew up among the literati of his hometown Hangzhou, where he became famous as a poet and also had an excellent eye for ancient art. From the age of 30, he traveled around the country with his poetry and calligraphy, and in his later years, around the age of 60, he lived in Yangzhou, where he became a representative of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou. He began to paint in earnest around the age of 60, and was skilled in painting bamboo, plum blossoms, horses, and other paintings in a unique style that broke away from the formalism of Southern School painting, and in his later years he also painted Buddhist paintings. He established his own style of calligraphy based on the rubbings of metal and stone he collected. He called his own style "seven-and-a-half-minute calligraphy" in reference to the eight-minute calligraphy style, and was skilled in his unique style of calligraphy. His representative work is the four-panel "Plum Blossoms in Ink" (Okinawa Mange Collection). His main works include "Collection of Gold Dongxin" and "Inscription on Painting Plum Blossoms."

中国,清の文人,画家,書家。銭塘 (浙江省杭州) の人。字は寿門,号は冬心ほか。故郷杭州の文人の間で育って詩名を揚げ,古美術の鑑識眼にもすぐれた。 30歳過ぎから詩書をもって各地を遍歴,晩年 60歳頃から揚州に寓居し,揚州八怪の代表的存在となる。本格的に画筆をとったのは 60歳前後からで,南宗画の形式主義から脱した個性的画風による竹,梅,馬などを得意とし,晩年は仏画も描いた。書は収集した金石拓本をもとに独自の書風を確立。八分書にちなみ,みずから「七分半書」と称し,個性的な書風を得意とした。代表作『墨梅図』4連幅 (翁万戈コレクション) 。主著に『金冬心集』『画梅題記』などがある。
