A bay located at the back of East Korea Bay, which curves into the Sea of Japan on the eastern coast of the northern Korean Peninsula. The mouth of the bay is 15 kilometers wide at the southern end of Kojima Island in the north, and extends about 18 kilometers into the bay. Near the mouth of the bay are numerous islands, including Raijima Island, Takashima Island, Shinjima Island, and Matsujima Island, as well as numerous reefs. To the north of the bay is Matsuda Bay, surrounded by the Kojima Peninsula, and to the south is Wonsan Port. The Katsuma Peninsula, which forms the breakwater of Wonsan Port, is known as the "Myesha Tenri" (Seaside Sea), with its scent of seaweed, and the bay is a swimming beach that is a nationally renowned resort with beautiful scenery.
