Mount Ryuo

Japanese: 竜王山 - りゅうおうざん

The highest peak in the Sanuki Mountains, which straddles both Kagawa and Tokushima prefectures. It is located on the border between Mannou Town in Kagawa and Mima City in Tokushima. It is 1,060m above sea level. It is made up of alternating layers of sandstone and mudstone from the Izumi Group, and is a mountain in the late early adult stage, with a narrow flat area remaining at the summit. Large zelkova and magnolia trees can be seen on the middle slope, as well as rare communities of three-leaf hydrangeas, Japanese bead trees, and Japanese laurels. Raccoon dogs and flying squirrels also live here. It is the source of the Toki River and the Koto River. The northern side is steeply sloping, while the gentle slope to the south is dotted with farming settlements up to an altitude of 700m. There is a forest park near the summit, which offers excellent views. It belongs to the Otaki-Okawa Prefectural Natural Park.

香川県，徳島県の両県にまたがる讃岐山脈の最高峰。香川県まんのう町と徳島県美馬市の境に位置する。標高 1060m。和泉層群の砂岩，泥岩互層からなり，山頂に狭い平坦面が残る早壮年期末期の山。中腹にケヤキ，ホオノキの大木があり，ミツバウツギ，メグスリノキ，ジンジソウなどの貴重な群落もみられる。タヌキ，ムササビなども生息する。土器川，香東川の源流をなす。北側は急傾斜，南側の緩斜面には標高 700mまで農耕集落が分布する。山頂付近には森林公園があり眺望に優れる。大滝大川県立自然公園に属する。
