Polar orbit - kyokukido (English spelling)

Japanese: 極軌道 - きょくきどう（英語表記）polar orbit

An artificial satellite orbit that passes over both the North and South Poles. Because satellites in this orbit pass over the entire globe due to the Earth's rotation, they are used for military reconnaissance satellites, weather satellites, and scientific satellites that observe cosmic rays and the auroras near the poles. The most representative example is the American weather satellite Noah.
