An artificial satellite orbit that passes over both the North and South Poles. Because satellites in this orbit pass over the entire globe due to the Earth's rotation, they are used for military reconnaissance satellites, weather satellites, and scientific satellites that observe cosmic rays and the auroras near the poles.
