…A general term for small mites belonging to the Pyroglyphidae family of the suborder Astigmatism. The various species of the Dermatophagoides genus, which is part of this family, are distributed widely throughout the world, and their sources of occurrence are diverse, including animal nests and bodies, stored food, medicines, house dust, human skin and hair, and they have also been detected in human urine and sputum.
