Riviera - Riviera (English spelling)

The coastal area of ​​northwest Italy facing the Ligurian Sea. It refers to the coast from La Spezia to the northwest border with France, and is part of the French coastal area of ​​the Cote d'Azur. The Maritime Alps and the Ligurian Apennines are in the background, and it is known for its mild climate and beautiful coastline. The eastern side is called the Riviera di Levante (Eastern Riviera) and the western side is called the Riviera di Ponente (Western Riviera), with Genoa, a famous port and industrial city, as the border. It is a world-famous resort and tourist area, with towns such as Rapallo, Santa Margherita Ligure, Alassio, Imperia, San Remo, and Ventimiglia. The term Riviera is sometimes used more broadly to include the French Côte d'Azur, which includes Nice and Cannes.

イタリア北西部、リグリア海に臨む海岸地帯。ラ・スペツィアから北西のフランスとの国境に至るまでの海岸をいい、フランス領の海岸地帯コート・ダジュールに連なる。マリッティメ・アルプス（海岸アルプス）山脈とリグリア・アペニン山脈が背後に迫り、温和な気候と海岸線の美しさで知られる。港湾・工業都市として名高いジェノバを境にして、東側をリビエラ・ディ・レバンテRiviera di Levante（東リビエラ）、西側をリビエラ・ディ・ポネンテRiviera di Ponente（西リビエラ）とよぶ。世界的に有名な保養・観光地帯で、ラパッロRapallo、サンタ・マルゲリータ・リグレSanta Margherita Ligure、アラッシオAlassio、インペリア、サン・レモ、ベンティミーリアVentimigliaなどの町がある。なお、リビエラという名称をより広く、ニースやカンヌを有するフランスのコート・ダジュールを含めて用いることもある。
