The main trend in the country's modern history was decided in 1933, the year after the founding of the state, when Abd al-Aziz granted oil rights to the American Standard Oil Company of California (which was absorbed and merged into ARAMCO in 1944). The life of the people at that time was not much different from that of the Prophet Muhammad's time, but in 1938 oil fields were discovered in the eastern Hassa region, and after World War II, as oil development by the United States began in earnest, production and oil revenues increased rapidly, promoting social development.
