A Chinese Ming dynasty writer. His pen name was Yulin and his pen name was Cangming. He was born in Licheng (Jinan, Shandong Province). He was one of the last seven sons of the Ming Kobunci school, and held a leading position among them. The Kobunci school, also known as the "pseudo-classical" or "classical" school, was a school that advocated "literature is the Qin and Han dynasties, poetry is the prosperity of the Tang dynasty," and was all the rage in the literary world during the middle of the Ming dynasty. Li Panlong passed the Jinshi examination in 1544 (the 23rd year of the Jiajing era). He started his career as a clerk in the Ministry of Justice, and was promoted to deputy ambassador to Shaanxi. He then resigned from his position due to illness and returned to his hometown of Licheng. Ten years later he was appointed again, and later promoted to inspector of Henan. He returned home after his mother's death, and died in 1570 (the 4th year of the Longqing era) at the age of 57. His edited works include the 30-volume "Cangmingshu" (Collection of Poetics), 24 volumes, "Poetics Matters" (Collection of Poetics from the White Snow Tower), 10 volumes, and "Anthology of Ancient and Modern Poetry" (Collection of Poetics from the White Snow Tower), but there are doubts as to whether he was the author of these works.
