...(5) Composite frame A frame that has both pin joints like a truss and rigid joints like a rigid frame is called a composite frame, and has characteristics intermediate between a truss and a rigid frame.

A structure that deforms immediately when force is applied, as in Figure 7, a, is called an unstable frame or mechanism. A structure that does not deform but moves, as in b, is also an unstable frame.
