Linalool - Linalool (English spelling)

A type of alcohol that belongs to the chain monoterpene group. It is a colorless liquid with a lily of the valley-like fragrance. It is found in Brazilian boad rose oil, Taiwanese aromatic oil, and Japanese camphor leaf oil at over 80%. Linalool obtained by distillation from these oils has its own unique fragrance. Synthetic linalool is produced from α-pinene, from acetone and acetylene, and from isoprene, and synthetic linalool accounts for the majority of the total. It is widely used in various blended fragrances. It is also used as a raw material for the production of linalyl acetate, which is an important substitute for bergamot oil and lavender oil. It is also used in large quantities as a raw material for the synthesis of isophytol, an intermediate raw material for vitamin E.
