Rishiri Fuji [town] - Rishiri Fuji
A town in Rishiri County in northern Hokkaido. It occupies the eastern half of Rishiri Island. There are fishing ports at Oshidomari in the north and Oniwaki in the south. Until around 1955, the town was bustling with herring fishing, but has now switched to aquaculture of abalone, sea urchin, salmon, trout, and other fish. Rishiri Airport is located here. In 1990, the town was renamed Higashi-Rishiri Town. 105.61 km2 . 3,037 people (2010). → Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park
