Ashikaga Seasonal Chronicles
A record of the battles in the Kinai region from 1487 to 1571 (Chokyo 1 to Genki 2). Both the author and the date of its creation are unknown. It was initiated by the deaths of Ashikaga Yoshihisa and Hatakeyama Masanaga, and weaves in documents here and there to explain the incident in 1493 (Meio 2) when Hosokawa Masamoto deposed the shogun, the process in which the Hosokawa clan split and declined after Masamoto's death, how the Miyoshi and Matsunaga clans took control of Kyoto in their place, and how Oda Nobunaga entered Kyoto in 1568 (Eiroku 11) accompanied by Ashikaga Yoshiaki. [Torii Kazuyuki]
