A military official of the Yi Dynasty in Korea. His pen name was Baek Gyu. In 1623, when the Western faction overthrew Gwanghaegun by force and installed King Injo, Yi Seok, who was the military commander and deputy marshal of Pyeongan Province, played a major role in the coup. However, he was dissatisfied with his achievements and in the following year, he rebelled, occupied the capital Hanseong (now Seoul), and installed King Seonjo's tenth son as king. One month later, Yi Seok was defeated and killed, but some of the rebels fled to the Later Jin and protested the injustice of King Injo's accession to the throne, providing a pretext for the Later Jin (later Qing) to invade Korea (the Jeongmao War of 1627).

朝鮮，李朝の武臣。字は白圭。1623年，西人派が武力で光海君を倒し，仁祖を擁立した際，平安道兵使兼副元帥であった李适は政変で大きな役割を果たした。しかし，その論功に不満をもち，翌24年，反乱を起こして首都漢城(現，ソウル)を占領，宣祖の第10子を国王に擁立した。1ヵ月後，李适は敗れて殺されるが，反乱軍の一部は後金に逃れて仁祖即位の不当を訴え，後金(のちの清)の朝鮮侵攻(丁卯（ていぼう）胡乱1627)の口実をつくることになった。
