Tooth brushing

… refers to the cleaning of teeth with a toothbrush in order to remove microorganisms and food debris from the surface of the teeth (called tooth brushing in English), or the toothpaste used for this purpose, dentifrice. Tooth brushing is thought to have been practiced since ancient times, and the ancient Egyptian Ebers Papyrus also describes a toothpaste made from powdered palm fruit, powdered flint, and other ingredients mixed with honey, which is believed to be the oldest toothpaste in the world.
