1903‐1993 German civil law scholar and legal philosopher. He obtained his doctorate in law in 1926, and after obtaining his professorial qualifications in 1929, he became a professor at the University of Kiel in 1933 and at the University of Munich in 1960. He later became a professor emeritus at the same university. Larenz began his research activities with a study of Hegel's legal philosophy, and published Hegel's Theory of Attribution and the Objective Concept of Attribution (1927), Problems of Legal Validity (1929), and Modern Philosophy of Law and State Philosophy (1931, second edition 35), later forming the legal theory that represents the so-called Kiel School.
