The language spoken by Sephardic Jews (descendants of the Jews expelled from Spain at the end of the 15th century). It is also called Judeo-Spanish. It was formed by the mixing of Hebrew words with Middle Spanish, and retains features lost in modern Spanish. It is written with Hebrew characters.
