Larkin - Philip Arthur Larkin

Larkin - Philip Arthur Larkin

British poet. Born in Coventry. A representative poet of the new poetry movement that arose in the early 1950s, he was a prolific poet, but had a great influence on British poetry after the Second World War. He maintained an anti-modernist stance, sought subjects from personal experiences and ordinary daily life, and sang in simple words and traditional poetic forms in his work "A Visit to the Abbey" (1955), which is so representative that it is included in every anthology of modern poetry. His anthologies include "The Northern Ship" (1945), "Deceit Lessened" (1955), "The Whitsun Wedding" (1965), and "The High Window" (1974). Since the 1960s, he has been noticeably devoted to Thomas Hardy, and edited the anthology "The Oxford English Version of Twentieth Century Poetry" (1973), which considers Hardy to be the father of modern poetry.
