A highly explosive gold compound. Several chemical species have been considered, but all are thought to have Au-N bonds. The first was obtained in 1886 by reacting gold(I) oxide with ammonia, and was thought to have the composition Au 3 N・NH 3. The gray powder obtained by reacting chloroauric acid HAuCl 4 with aqueous ammonia was thought to be a mixture of Au 2 O 3 ・3NH 3 and HNAuCl・NH 3. Other examples include Au(OH) 3 ・3NH 3 and Au 2 O 3 ・2NH 3 , but neither the composition nor the structure is clear. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
