Ani River

Japanese: 阿仁川 - あにがわ

A tributary of the Yoneshiro River that flows through northern Akita Prefecture. It is 60 km long. It originates from Mount Daibutsu in the Taihei Mountains, and the Komata River, Koani River, and others flow into it. The upper reaches are also called the Oani River. Terraces have developed on the riverbanks, and the Ani Kaido (National Route 105) and the Akita Inland Longitudinal Railway run along the river. There used to be an Ani mine in the river basin, and during the Edo period, ore and copper were transported by riverboat to the cargo station (Futai Town) in the middle of the Yoneshiro River.

秋田県北部を流れる米代川の一支流。全長 60km。太平山地の大仏岳に源を発し，小又川，小阿仁川などが流入。上流を大阿仁川ともいう。河岸に段丘が発達し，川に沿って阿仁街道 (国道 105号線) ，秋田内陸縦貫鉄道が通る。かつては流域に阿仁鉱山があり，江戸時代には鉱石，銅を川舟で，米代川中流の荷上場 (二ッ井町) まで運搬した。
