Born: April 9, 1880 in Kuopio
Died: September 30, 1943, Helsinki. Finnish female writer. She majored in history and aesthetics at university, and after becoming a substitute teacher, she made her debut with the collection of short stories Suhteita (1905). Her humorous short stories and plays, which deal with social and family issues and get to the heart of the matter in a concise, meaningful conversational style, led the Finnish literary revival. Her short stories include Rakkautta (07), Tyttö ruusutarhassa (27), the novella Arkielämää (09), the tragedy Vanha koti (10), and the comedy Miehen kylkiluu (14).
