Edo period , Mikawa Province Yoshida, Atsumi County (present day Aichi prefecture Toyohashi City The Fudai clan had its headquarters in the city of Ise. The clan school was the Jishukan. In 1601 (6th year of the Keicho era), Tokugawa Clan Matsudaira (Takeya) Iekiyo, a senior retainer of the clan, was appointed with a fief of 30,000 koku and established the clan. His son Tadakiyo had no heir. Restructuring After this, fudai daimyo who held important positions in the shogunate took turns becoming lords of the domain. Two generations of Matsudaira (Fukozu) Tadatoshi, four generations of Mizuno Tadakiyo, Mizuno Tadayoshi, Ogasawara Tadatomo, two generations of Kuze Shigeyuki, Makino Nariharu, Matsudaira (Okochi) Nobutoki, Matsudaira (Honjo) Sukenori, and others transferred their fiefs to the domain with stipends of 30,000 to 80,000 koku. In 1749 (Kan'en 2), the Matsudaira (Okochi) clan was granted fiefs again, and Nobufuku became lord of the domain with 70,000 koku, after which he established his position. Meiji Restoration It lasted for seven generations until 1869 (Meiji 2), when it was renamed Toyohashi Domain. Abolition of feudal domains and establishment of prefectures It became Toyohashi Prefecture, then Nukata Prefecture, before being incorporated into Aichi Prefecture the following year.

江戸時代、三河(みかわ)国渥美(あつみ)郡吉田（現、愛知県豊橋市）に藩庁をおいた譜代(ふだい)藩。藩校は時習館。1601年（慶長(けいちょう)6）、徳川氏譜代の重臣松平（竹谷(たけのや)）家清(いえきよ)が3万石で入封(にゅうほう)して立藩。子の忠清(ただきよ)に嗣子(しし)がなく改易(かいえき)となって以後は、幕府の要職を占める譜代大名が交代で藩主となった。松平（深溝(ふこうず)）忠利(ただとし)以下2代、水野忠清(ただきよ)、水野忠善(ただよし)、小笠原忠知(ただとも)以下4代、久世重之(くぜしげゆき)、牧野成春(なりはる)以下2代、松平（大河内(おおこうち)）信祝(のぶとき)、松平（本庄(ほんじょう)）資訓(すけのり)と、3万石～8万石で転入封が続いた。1749年（寛延(かんえん)2）に松平（大河内）氏が再度封ぜられ、信復(のぶなお)が7万石で藩主となって以後は定着、明治維新まで7代続いた。1869年（明治2）に豊橋藩と改称したが、71年の廃藩置県で豊橋県となり、その後、額田(ぬかた)県を経て翌年愛知県に編入された。
