Japanese: 日程計画法 - にっていけいかくほう（英語表記）scheduling

Scheduling is a general term for methods used when creating a schedule to process several jobs using various resources such as equipment, machines, and personnel, or when managing the schedules of multiple tasks in civil engineering and construction work. For example, in a factory, when several machines are used to process several types of materials according to a set machine sequence for each material, the goal is to complete all of the processing in the shortest number of days (or hours) possible.

設備，機械，人員などのいろいろな資源を用いて，いくつかの仕事を処理するスケジュールを作成する場合，あるいは土木，建設工事などにおける多数の作業の日程管理を行う場合などに用いられる方法を総称して日程計画法という。　たとえば，工場において何台かの機械を用いて何種類かの素材をそれぞれの素材に対して決められた機械の順序にしたがって加工する場合，できるだけ短い日数(あるいは時間)ですべての加工を終了することを考える。
