Japanese: アウストロアジア語系諸族 - アウストロアジアごけいしょぞく

A general term for the peoples who speak languages belonging to the Austroasiatic language family. They are found from central India to the Indochina Peninsula, and their economic forms range from hunter-gatherers such as the Semang of the Malay Peninsula and the Phi Tong Luang of the mountainous regions of Thailand and Laos, to tuber and fruit growers such as the Nicobar Islanders, mountain tribes from central and southern Vietnam through Laos and Cambodia (such as the Moi, Ka, and Phnom, collectively known as Montagnards), slash-and-burn rice growers such as the Rawa of northern Thailand and the Wa of Yunnan, rice terrace farmers such as the Munda of India, and lowland wet-rice farmers such as the Vietnamese, Khmer, and Hmong.
