Date of birth and death unknown. Ukiyo-e artist from Kamigata in the mid-Edo period. Born in Kyoto, he illustrated Kamigata-style publications aimed at the masses, and was active from the Jokyo to Hoei periods (1684-1711). He is particularly known for his collaborations with Ihara Saikaku, who provided vivid descriptions of manners and customs in his masterpieces of ukiyo-zoshi, such as "Koshoku Gonin Onna" and "Koshoku Ichidai Onna" (both 1686) and "Nihon Eitaigura" (1688). He also produced woodblock picture books such as "Koshoku Kinmou Zui" (1686) and "Onnayo Kinmou Zui" (1687).
