Kitou forestry area

Japanese: 木頭林業地帯 - きとうりんぎょうちたい
Kitou forestry area

...The name of the area covering three towns and villages in Naka District, Kitou Village, Kizawa Village, and Kaminaka Town, in the southern part of Tokushima Prefecture. It occupies the upper reaches of the Naka River and forms the so-called Kitou forestry area. This area has long been known for its beautiful cedar forests, and in the early modern period it was owned by the feudal domain, but in the early Meiji period it became privately owned, and from the mid-Meiji period afforestation began in earnest.
