Acta Diurna (English spelling)

Japanese: アクタ・ディウルナ(英語表記)acta diurna
Acta Diurna (English spelling)
The Roman government bulletin. It is considered the precursor of newspapers in the Western world. It was often so named by messengers who sent news to the provinces by letter. When Caesar became consul in 59 BCE, he instituted the publication of the deliberations and decisions of the senate (acta senatus), the assemblies, and matters of general importance (acta diurna, also called acta populi) in order to weaken the power of the senate. The acta senatus was abolished under Augustus, but the latter continued throughout most of the empire.
