(Italy) Istituto per la Ricostruzione Industriale : Italian Industrial Reconstruction Agency. Founded in 1933 to rehabilitate financial institutions and manufacturing industries hit hard by the Great Depression. It continued to exist after World War II and was a driving force behind economic growth until the early 1960s, but was dissolved in 2000 amid the long-term stagnation of the Italian economy and economic globalization.

IRI (Institute Research and Innovation)

Institute Research and Innovation : The Institute for Industrial Creation. A foundation that conducts research and development of fundamental technologies that private companies cannot carry out on their own. Founded in 1959 as the Industrial Development Institute, it was renamed in 1989 and dissolved in 2007.
