Yong Yang Dai - You, Youtai

Japanese: 容楊黛 - よう・ようたい

Year of birth: Year of birth and death unknown. A Joruri composer from the mid-Edo period. His real name is said to be Matsuda, a doctor from Chojamachi, Shitaya, Edo (Ueno, Taito Ward), but there is no definite proof. As a Joruri composer, there are only two examples, for which he was responsible for the second act of the 11-act "Go Taiheiki Shiraishi Banashi," which premiered in 1780 (An'ei 9), and "Kagamiyama Kyu Nishikie," which he wrote alone and premiered in 1782 (Tenmei 2). The latter was a huge hit, and is well-known to this day. He is truly an author who has left his name in posterity with just one work, "Kagamiyama Kyu Nishikie." He also wrote the reading book "Takiuchi Renri Tachibana" and the sharebon "Kabuki no Hana." <References> "Gidayu Nenpyo/Kinsei Hen 1"

江戸中期の浄瑠璃作者。実名は江戸下谷長者町(台東区上野)の医者松田某とされているが確証はない。浄瑠璃作者としては,安永9(1780)年初演の「碁太平記白石噺」全11段の内の2段目を担当した例と,単独で書いた天明2(1782)年初演の「加々見山旧錦絵」の2例があるだけである。後者は大当たりをとり,現代に至るまで著名。まさに「加々見山旧錦絵」一作で後世に名を残した作者である。ほかに読本『敵討連理橘』,洒落本『歌舞妓の華』を書いた。<参考文献>『義太夫年表/近世篇1』
