Hiuchinada

An area of ​​the sea off the northern coast of Shikoku, occupying the central part of the Seto Inland Sea, between the Misaki Peninsula in Kagawa Prefecture and the Takanawa Peninsula in Ehime Prefecture. It borders the Bingo Nada Sea to the north and the Aki Nada Sea across the Kurushima Strait to the west. The water is about 15 to 30 meters deep, and the seabed is relatively flat. While there are many islands off the coast of the northern peninsula of Shikoku, there are few islands in the Nada region, including the Hiuchi Nada, which is thought to be due to subsidence of the Nada region. In the Hiuchi Nada, Ibuki Island, Marugami Island, Enoshima Island, Uo Island, Takaikami Island, and Shisaka Island are lined up in an east-west direction.

瀬戸内海の中部、香川県三崎半島と愛媛県高縄(たかなわ)半島の間を占める四国北岸の海域。北は備後(びんご)灘、西は来島(くるしま)海峡を経て安芸(あき)灘と接する。水深は15～30メートル程度で、海底は比較的平坦(へいたん)である。四国北部の半島部の沖には島が多いのに対し、燧灘をはじめとする灘の地域には島が少ないが、これは灘の地域が沈降しているためと考えられている。燧灘には伊吹(いぶき)島、円上(まるがみ)島、江ノ島、魚(うお)島、高井神(たかいかみ)島、四阪(しさか)島などが東西方向に並んでいる。
