Yangtze River air mass

An air mass that appears in the Yangtze River basin in China in spring and autumn. It becomes a mobile high pressure system that reaches the vicinity of Japan, bringing warm and dry weather and sometimes causing late frosts in spring. The Yangtze air mass is considered a continental tropical air mass, but most of it is a transformation of the continental polar air mass that moved south from Mongolia.

春や秋に中国の揚子江流域で発現する気団。移動性高気圧となって日本付近に達し、温暖で乾いた天気をもたらし、春など遅霜(おそじも)をおこすことがある。揚子江気団は大陸性熱帯気団とされているが、その多くはモンゴル方面から南下した大陸性寒帯気団がここで変質したものである。
