Yangtze River Delta

Japanese: 揚子江デルタ地帯 - ようすこうデルタちたい

A delta formed by the Yangtze River, spreading across southern Jiangsu Province and Shanghai in China. In China it is called the Yangtze River Delta. Topographically, it apex is near the northern edge of the Ningzhen Hills between Nanjing and Zhenjiang, and spreads north and south along the current course of the Yangtze River. On the north bank, an old sandbar line runs from Yangzhou along the Tongyang Canal to Taizhou and Haian, and on the south bank, a line runs southeast from Zhenjiang through Jiangyin, Changzhou, Taicang, Songjiang, and Fengxian. It is thought to be the remains of the coastline that advanced furthest inward as a result of the postglacial sea level rise about 6,000-7,000 years ago.

中国江蘇省南部および上海市に広がる，長江(揚子江)によって形成されたデルタ地帯。中国では長江三角洲と呼ばれる。地形的には，南京と鎮江の間にある寧鎮丘陵の北縁付近を頂点とし，現在の長江の流路の南北に広がる。古い砂州列が，北岸では揚州より通揚運河に沿って泰州，海安に至る線に，南岸では鎮江より南東に江陰，常州，太倉，松江，奉賢を経る線に存在し，約6000‐7000年前の後氷期の海進にともなって最も内進した海岸線に残されたものであると考えられている。
