Urmia

A city in northwestern Iran. Also known as Urumiyeh. Located at an altitude of 1,332m near Lake Urumiyeh, it is in the center of a fertile plain. Irrigation produces grapes and other fruits, as well as high-quality tobacco. It is a key transportation point on the road around the lake from Tabriz, and also has an airport. イラン北西部の都市。オルーミーエとも。標高1332m，ウルミエ湖の近くにあり，肥沃な平原の中心である。灌漑(かんがい)によりブドウなどの果実と良質のタバコを産する。タブリーズから湖岸を巡る道路上にある交通の要地で，空港もある。一時レザーイエと称した。かつてはゾロアスター教の聖地としても有名。66万7499人（2011）。
